Requirements: • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Geography or Geographical Information Science (GIS)
• Completed relevant postgraduate qualification in Town and Regional Planning or Geographic Information Science will be an added advantage • Minimum of 4 years’ management experience at the level of Deputy Director in the Public Service (or verifiable evidence of comparable management or professional leadership in town planning) • Understanding of development planning, spatial planning, land use management, GIS implementation and strategies, Government’s planning framework, policies and programmes, including rural development programmes • Planning or GIS experience at a Local Government sphere will be a distinct advantage • Financial, general and project management skills • Valid driver’s licence.

Duties: • Manage the Provincial Office on Spatial Planning and Information • Facilitate the coordination of GIS and spatial planning projects in line with the strategic objectives of the Department • Provide managerial support to the Spatial Planning and Spatial Information (GIS) units responsible for professional services in support of all the programmes of the Department • Support the National Office in the execution of the strategic and operational plans of the Chief Directorate: Spatial Planning and Information including, but not limited to, support to municipalities in respect of their IDPs, SDFs LUMS, GIS and related matters • Support the execution of the legislature mandate of the Department • Carry out any other duty incidental to the achievement of the Department’s Strategic Plan.
